Franck Giovannini (born April 16, 1974 in Tramelan ) is a Swiss chef . In 2016 he took over the kitchen management of the “Restaurant de l'Hôtel de Ville” in Crissier from Benoît Violier .

Career

Franck Giovannini completed his cooking apprenticeship, which he completed in 1993, with Claude Joseph at the Auberge de la Couronne in Apples . He then worked for Gray Kunz in Victoria ( Canada ) and New York . In 1995 he returned to Switzerland. He started a position at «Girardet» under the direction of Frédy Girardet .

He stayed there when the restaurant was sold to Philippe Rochat the following year and named "Restaurant de l'Hôtel de Ville". In order to expand his international experience, Giovannini went to Boston again for two years in the United States .

In 2000 Benoît Violier brought him back to Crissier, where he was given the position of sous-chef. After Violier took over the restaurant from Rochat in 2012, Giovannini succeeded him as head chef. After the death of Benoît Violier, Franck Giovannini took over the kitchen management in the "Restaurant de l'Hôtel de Ville" now run by Brigitte Violier.

Also under the management of Giovannini, the restaurant immediately received three Michelin stars and 19 points in Gault-Millau in 2016 . He is also a participant in cooking competitions. Among other things, he won the “Bocuse d'Or Switzerland” preliminary round twice and in 2007 came third at the Bocuse d'Or in Lyon . He is now President of the “Swiss Academy Bocuse d'Or”. Franck Giovannini is married and has two children.
