Franco Brambilla (Archbishop)

Franco Brambilla (born November 27, 1923 in Brugherio , Italy , † July 28, 2003 ) was a Roman Catholic Archbishop and Vatican diplomat .

Life

Franco Brambilla received on August 29, 1947, the sacrament of Holy Orders .

On December 24, 1970, Pope Paul VI appointed him . the Titular Archbishop of Viminacium and ordered him to Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Tanzania . The Cardinal Secretary of State, Jean-Marie Cardinal Villot , donated him episcopal ordination on February 14, 1971 ; Co- consecrators were the secretary of the Holy Congregation for the Extraordinary Affairs of the Church, Archbishop Agostino Casaroli , and the secretary of the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples , Archbishop Sergio Pignedoli .

Pope John Paul II appointed him on November 21, 1981 as Apostolic Nuncio in Uruguay . On February 22, 1986 Brambilla became Apostolic Pro-Nuncio in Australia .

On December 3, 1998, Pope John Paul II accepted Franco Brambilla's resignation due to reasons of age.
