history

The first written mention of the settlement of Zhořec , which belonged to the Meziříčí manor , took place in 1377. Later, the place was called Dolní Zhořec to distinguish it from several villages of the same name . In 1492 Frank von Dolní Zhořec bought the mill on the Balinka from Jiří von Šeborov. The noble family of Dolní Zhořec had their seat on a fortified farm in Dolní Zhořec. Subsequently, the place was named Franko Zhořec after the owner of the farm .

When Jan d. Ä. Stránecký von Stránec acquired Pivcova Zhoř in 1554 and then expanded the seat of a lordship, Franko Zhořec remained the only village in the area that did not belong to Pivcova Zhoř. Stránecký only bought the Freimühle to the right of the Balinka from the miller Bartoš Skala. Until 1848 the village remained subordinate to Velké Meziříčí.

After the abolition of patrimonial Franko Zhořec formed from 1850 a district of the community Uhřínov in the district administration Velké Meziříčí. Since the 1880s the place was called Frankův Zhorec and since 1921 as Frankův Zhorec . At the beginning of 1961 the village was umgemeindet after Stránecká Zhoř and at the same time assigned to the Okres Žďár nad Sázavou . Between 1980 and 1990 the village belonged to Měřín as a district . Today Frankův Zhořec is primarily a resort at the entrance to the deeply cut Balinka Valley. In 1991 the place had 58 inhabitants. In 2001 the village consisted of 34 houses in which 54 people lived.
