Frank Converse (born May 22, 1938 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American actor . His acting career includes over 85 roles in productions for film and television. He was best known for the 1970s television series, Adventure of the Country Road , where he played the trucker Will Chandler.

life and career

Frank Converse, born in 1938 in St. Louis , Missouri, first studied at Carnegie Tech before making his television debut in the US series The Trials of O'Brien in 1966 . His breakthrough came with the role of Michael Alden in the 13-part series The Secret of the Blue Crown

Converse played his first film role in 1967 as the Reverend Clem De Lavery in Otto Preminger's drama Tomorrow is a New Day , starring Michael Caine and Jane Fonda . In the same year he stood in a supporting role for John Sturge's starred western with James Garner , Jason Robards and Robert Ryan in The Five Outlaws as Marshal Virgil Earp in front of the camera.

In the 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s he played mostly in TV films and popular TV series and Converse was only seen sporadically in feature films, such as in Cliff Robertson's action drama The Pilot (1980), in Tsugunobu Kotani's samurai film The Sword of the Shogun (1981) or in Everybody Wins - A dirty game by director Karel Reisz (1990).

In Germany he was best known for his leading role in the NBC television series Movin 'on (1974 to 1976), which ran under the title Adventure of Landstrasse in the ARD evening program, in which he played the trucker Will Chandler . In 1989 he was seen in the role of the dolphin researcher Dr. Michael Larson in the 8-part miniseries The Secret of the Dolphins .
