Solarfighters (original title: Solarbabies ) is an American science fiction film produced in 1986 . It was released in German cinemas on May 28, 1987.

After a nuclear war , the earth has become a barren desert. The protectorate watches over the survivors and rations the scarce water. Roller-skating teenagers who call themselves solar babies find the magic ball Bohdi , which becomes the linchpin of the story. Strictor Grock , the extended arm of the Protectorate, wants Bohdi to destroy the last spark of hope of the oppressed. For this purpose he employs mercenaries on the young people. In various detours, where descendants of the Indians also show their skills, it comes to a showdown .

The film was produced by Mel Brooks . The special effects came from Richard Edlund , who also worked on Star Wars , and was written by Walon Green ( The Hellstrom Chronicle ).
