Frank De Wulf

Frank De Wulf (* 1968 ) is a Belgian DJ , musician and label owner . He is considered a pioneer of the Belgian new beat and techno scene.

Life

Frank De Wulf was born in 1968 as the youngest of three sons. His brothers showed him new styles of music early on. When he was about 10 years old, he began to experiment with tape decks and created the first mixes of his favorite records.

After receiving an invitation to a local radio station, he was able to mix with real turntables for the first time and soon afterwards received his own radio show "Seventh Heaven Radio". Soon he created his own remixes of his favorite pieces and played them on his show. In 1985 he received a radio broadcast on the more dance music-oriented station SIS .

At this time he also had his first job as a resident DJ in two dance cafes in Ghent . With the advent of New Beat around 1988, he also began producing his own pieces of music. One of his first records was the 12 " Acid Rock of his project Rhythm Device on Music Man Records . Later, due to lack of time, he released numerous unfinished beats and samples as B-Sides . Contrary to expectations, the pieces enjoyed great popularity with DJs, and De Wulf later did more Parts of the series published.

Together with other musicians he founded bands and projects such as Bass Jumpers , FOG , Liaisons D and Rhythm Device . As a remixer , he provided reworks for Digital Boy , Santa Esmeralda , Jam & Spoon , Erasure , The Orb , The Shamen , Model 500 , Biosphere , Ken Ishii and Celvin Rotane, among others .

Numerous appearances as a DJ in other European countries as well as in the USA and Australia followed. He later founded his own music labels Mikki House and Two Thumbs .

At the end of the 1990s, De Wulf withdrew from the music scene in order to concentrate more on the work in his visual effects studio GRID . There he creates effects for commercials, music videos and films.
