Frank Hannig (* 1974 in Verl ) is a German computer scientist and engineer . He is a private lecturer at the Friedrich-Alexander-Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg (FAU) and heads the “Architecture and Compiler Design” working group at the Chair for Hardware-Software-Co-Design .

Career

After graduating from high school in Bielefeld and doing 15 months of community service in the v. Bodelschwinghschen Anstalten Bethel , Frank Hannig began studying computer engineering with a focus on electrical engineering at the University of Paderborn in 1994 . For an internship abroad, he spent six months in 1999 at the Electrolux Tech-Center in Fredericia , Denmark . In 2000 he graduated from the University of Paderborn with a diploma thesis on “Exploration of space and time transformations for algorithms with uniform data dependencies” as a Dipl.-Ing. from. He then worked as a research assistant at the University of Paderborn and since 2003 at the chair for hardware-software co-design at the Friedrich-Alexander-University Erlangen-Nürnberg . Since 2004 he has headed the ACD ( Architecture and Compiler Design ) working group there . In 2009 he was awarded a Dr.-Ing. With a dissertation on “Scheduling Techniques for High-Throughput Loop Accelerators” with Jürgen Teich at the Faculty of Technology at FAU . PhD. In September and October 2012 Hannig spent a research stay at UC Riverside . In 2018 he completed his habilitation in the field of technical informatics on the subject of "Domain-specific and Resource-aware Computing". As an author or co-author, Frank Hannig has written over 170 scientific publications.

His research focuses on massively parallel computer architectures , from dedicated hardware and accelerators ( FPGAs , MPPAs , GPUs ) to multicore architectures , with the following aspects
