Frank Michael Junge (born May 5, 1967 in Halle / Saale ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

Frank Junge grew up in Halle. He attended the local children's and youth sports school "Friedrich Engels" and received his school leaving certificate in 1987 . In addition, he was active as a diver at SC Chemie Halle in competitive sports from 1973 to 1988 . In 1983 he became vice-junior European champion in high diving. Junge studied sports science at the University of Leipzig (formerly DHfK) and graduated in 1993 as a certified sports teacher. He then worked for the AOK Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania , first from 1994 to 1997 as a prevention specialist for physical activity in Wismar , then from 1997 to 1999 as deputy head of the marketing department in Schwerin and finally from 1999 to 2001 as a customer center manager in Wismar. Junge has been press spokesman and head of the Office for Press, Tourism and City Marketing of the Hanseatic City of Wismar since 2001 .

Frank Junge has lived in Wismar since 1994 . He is married and has a son and a daughter.

Political career

Junge joined the SPD in 1998. From 1999 to 2001 he was a member of the citizenship of the Hanseatic City of Wismar . During this time he acted as deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group and was a member of the committee for economics and municipal operations, as well as the main committee. From 2011 to 2017 he was a member of the Nordwestmecklenburg district council , where he was a parliamentary group, a member of the committee for economy and tourism, and a member of the district committee. Since 2012 he has been a board member of the SPD district association Northwest Mecklenburg-Wismar. Since 2017 he has been a member of the board of the SPD Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania.

Junge ran as a direct candidate in the Bundestag constituency Ludwigslust-Parchim II - Northwest Mecklenburg II - Rostock I district for both the 2013 Bundestag election and the 2017 Bundestag election . In both elections he took second place on the state list of the SPD Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and entered the Bundestag via this list.

Frank Junge has been a full member of the Committee for Tourism (since 2013) and the Committee for Economic Affairs and Energy (since 2017), of which he has been chairman since 2018 of its sub-committee “Regional Economic Policy and ERP Economic Plans”. He has been chairman of the regional group east and a member of the extended parliamentary committee of the SPD parliamentary group since 2018. From 2013 to 2017 he was a full member of the Finance Committee .

In the 19th German Bundestag , Junge is chairman of the subcommittee on regional economic policy and ERP economic plans. He is also a full member of the Tourism Committee and the Economic and Energy Committee .
