Frank Kroll

Frank Kroll (* 1968 in Hildesheim ) is a German jazz musician ( soprano , alto saxophone , bass clarinet ) and composer.

Act

Kroll first studied cultural pedagogy , then from 1992 to study jazz and popular music at the Stuttgart University of Music. In 1995 and 1996 he completed a study visit to the USA with the soprano saxophonist David Liebman and the pianist Richie Beirach . In 1999 he completed an artistic postgraduate course with Bernd Konrad , which he completed with distinction.

Since 1993 he has worked closely with Patrick Bebelaar , initially in the Limes X group , and has toured internationally. There were also concerts with Pierre Favre , Günter Lenz , Michel Godard , Herbert Joos , Jo Ambros and others. He dealt intensively with contemporary improvised music as well as the music of other cultures and composed for various formations up to big bands . He also worked as a music teacher at the Korntal-Münchingen music school (leader of the High 'n Mighty Big Band ; winner of the youth jazz award ) and at the Leonberg youth music school . Since 2010, Kroll has focused his work on the educational area and has been a teacher at the Max-Planck-Gymnasium Schorndorf ever since . There he takes care of the training of young jazz musicians and leads two big bands.

Prizes and awards

Kroll was a scholarship holder of the Baden-Württemberg Art Foundation and the Hermann Haake Art Foundation, Stuttgart. In 2003 he received the Baden-Württemberg Jazz Prize together with Veit Hübner .
