Frank Maria Reifenberg

Frank Maria Reifenberg (* 1962 in Freudenberg (Siegerland) ) is a German author and speaker. He mainly writes books for children and young people as well as scripts for film and television.

Life

Frank Maria Reifenberg grew up in Friesenhagen . He attended the Hollenberg high school in Waldbröl , which he graduated with the Abitur . From 1982 to 1985 he trained as a bookseller . From 1985 to 1989 he worked for the press and public relations officer of Aids-Hilfe Bonn eV, from 1989 to 1998 as a concept designer, copywriter and co-owner of the Project PR Society for Public Relations in Bonn. There he oversaw campaigns for the Federal Center for Health Education (BZgA) on topics such as AIDS , sex education , addiction prevention and organ donation . From 2000 to 2001 he completed the training program for screenwriters at the International Film School Cologne (IFS).

The Bavarian State Opera commissioned Reifenberg with the libretto for the youth opera love. just love. which premiered at the 2007 Opera Festival under the baton of Kent Nagano . Since 2008 he has been committed to promoting reading for poorly literate boys. He gives seminars on this topic, gives lectures for parents and conducts workshops. As the initiator and artistic director, he is responsible for the “kicken & read Cologne” project for the promotion of reading by the SK Stiftung Kultur .

In 2013 the University of Cologne appointed him a lecturer at the Institute for Language and Literature II, where he taught “Reading animation for boys” in a practical seminar for prospective teachers. The Ministry of Education in Rhineland-Palatinate appointed him as a consultant for the implementation of "kick & read" in all-day schools.

  • 2014 Leipzig Reading Compass of the Reading Foundation and the Leipzig Book Fair for Die Schattenbande got going .
  • 2018 Authors' grant from the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Kunststiftung NRW for his novel Where freedom grows .
  • 2018 Leipzig reading compass for Ocean City - every second counts .
  • 2019 Funding from the Filmstiftung NRW for the elaboration of Where freedom grows as a radio play.
  • 2020 Cologne scholarship for children's and young people's literature for Am Orowango, death creeps around the house at dawn .
