Frank Rennhack (* 12. October 1989 in Radebeul ) is a German Para-Hockey - National player .

Club career

At the age of twelve, Rennhack began sledge ice hockey (today: para ice hockey) to play. Just a year later he made his debut in the German Sledge Ice Hockey League (DSL) and prepared a goal in his first game. He is the youngest player ever to be used in DSL and also the youngest to be entered on the scorer list. He scored his first league goal at the age of 14. Due to his age, he was only allowed to play his team's home games at this time.

At the age of 16 he played the entire season with the Cardinals Dresden . In this first fully completed season, he was the top scorer of his team with 16 points (eight goals and eight assists ) in seven games. In the 2006/07 season he was again top scorer of his team. Although he could not exceed his points quota from the previous year, he had almost doubled his scoring. In the seven games of the season he scored 13 goals and was able to prepare two more.

In the following season he played all eight games of the season for the first time, scoring 14 goals and two assists. With these 14 goals he made it to number 3 on the top scorer list and thus had a large share in the third place of his Cardinals this season.

At the Karlovy Vary Open 2008 in Karlsbad , Frank Rennhack led his team to fourth place, with the bronze game only just losing 4-5 against the Amsterdam Huskies. During this tournament, Rennhack scored twelve goals in just five games and was able to prepare three more. This made him the top scorer and top scorer of the tournament and also voted best striker and best player, and he was also appointed to the All-Star team.

In the 2008/2009 season he was able to assert himself again as the top scorer of his team. Here he scored 13 goals and was also able to prepare three goals.

His last season in Dresden was his most successful to date with 18 goals and four assists, a total of 22 scorer points. At the end of his time in Dresden, he led his team to the tournament victory at the SRH Cup for the first time and was also elected to the All-Star team.

He then went to Hamburg, both sportingly and privately, where he joined the Hamburg Bulldogs. There he made a sensational start with 35 scorer points and took third place in the league-wide scorer list. The following year (2011/2012 season) he again took third place in the scorer list and led his team to third place in the German sledge ice hockey league.

He used the subsequent summer break to complete the theoretical and practical part of his trainer training (C license). In his "premiere season" as a player-coach, he led the Adendorf-Bremen syndicate to the runner-up title.

International career

Juniors

When he was 13, Rennhack made his debut in the German junior team. In his second game he was able to score his first goal. In the first tournament of this team he scored seven goals and was the top scorer of the tournament.

In 2005 he was voted the best striker of the tournament when the junior team won the first tournament in Bremen . He scored seven goals in three games and was able to prepare two more.

Men's

In 2004 he was discovered during the screening course for the German national team and accepted into the squad . At the age of 15 he made his debut against the then reigning world champions Norway . Because you can only play international missions at the age of 16, he was only allowed to take part in the following European championship with a special permit.

In April 2005, Rennhack and the national team celebrated a historic success: They became the first European champions (in Zlín, Czech Republic ) and thus qualified for the 2006 Winter Paralympics in Turin . At these Paralympic Games, the German team took fourth place. At that time it moved into the semi-finals as group winners and failed there because of the later gold medalist Canada. In the game for bronze they lost 3: 4 against the USA. In this game Rennhack was able to achieve his first scorer point in the national jersey. He prepared the 1-0 for the German team through Sebastian Kessler .

In December 2006 he scored his first international goal during an international series against Canada.

In 2007 the German team won the bronze medal at the European Championships in Pinerolo, Italy . In this tournament, Rennhack scored four goals and two assists in six games.

In Sollefteå , Sweden, the team finished 6th at the 2011 European Championships. In the summer of 2011, Frank Rennhack was appointed captain of the German national team. Another personnel change came just under a year later when former professional and national player Andreas Pokorny took over the post of head coach.

A visible success was especially evident at the B-World Cup in Japan in 2013, where the German team unexpectedly won the gold medal.
