Frank Rieger

Frank Rieger (born December 6, 1971 in Perleberg ) is a German hacker , non-fiction author , technology journalist , internet activist and one of the spokesmen for the Chaos Computer Club (CCC).

Life

Frank Rieger has founded various start-up companies in Germany in the fields of data security, navigation services and e-reading since the 1990s and currently (2015) works as the managing director of a company for communications security. He is a volunteer speaker for the Chaos Computer Club (CCC). He gives lectures at the CCC's annual Chaos Communication Congress , many of them together with Felix von Leitner alias Fefe , such as the Fnord annual review, which was presented annually from 2003 to 2016 (20C3 to 33C3) . In 2009 he also gave the keynote speech at the 26th Chaos Communication Congress. Together with Felix von Leitner he runs the podcast without alternatives .

Rieger publishes regularly in the features section of the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung , for example on the Stuxnet computer worm . As a special scoop , his article about the state trojan uncovered by the Chaos Computer Club and decrypted by disassembly was presented.

Rieger and Fefe invited Frank Schirrmacher, the FAZ editor and author of the internet-critical book Payback, to discuss political discourse and worldview manipulation for their podcast . They also spoke to Constanze Kurz , Gaby Weber , Martin Haase , Kai Biermann and Mathias Döpfner for other issues . In 2011, Alternativlos received the Political Podcast of the Year award from Deutschlandradio . Frank Rieger is a sought-after interview partner on the subject of data security and misuse.

In 2012 the Chaos Computer Club and its two speakers Constanze Kurz and Frank Rieger received the Werner Holtfort Prize for civil and human rights engagement.

In 2014, Rieger testified as an expert on technical issues in the NSA committee of inquiry . He is one of the initiators of the Charter of Fundamental Digital Rights of the European Union , which was published at the end of November 2016.
