Frank Seiboth

Frank Seiboth (born May 9, 1912 in Proschwitz , Böhmen , † July 4, 1994 in Wiesbaden ) was a German politician ( GB / BHE , from 1961 GDP , from 1967 SPD ).

education and profession

After studying mechanical engineering at the higher state trade school in Reichenberg , Seiboth served in the army of Czechoslovakia until 1934 . Subsequently, he was party secretary of the Sudeten German Party in Gablonz , from 1938 regional training manager and head of the Nazi training camp in the Sudeten region as well as HJ region leader for the Sudetenland. From 1939 to 1942 he was a NCO member of the Wehrmacht, then first at the Prague Land Office, then authorized to look after the camp for Czech workers in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and a member of the Rosenberg task force .

After the end of the Second World War , he was interned in the CSR until 1948 . After his release and the flight as a displaced person to West Germany, he first worked as a textile trade representative, then from 1950 as editor-in-chief of the magazine Wegweiser for home displaced persons and from 1953 as managing director and partner of Wegweiserverlag in Frankfurt am Main . In 1962 Seiboth became director of the Hessische Lotto-Treuhandgesellschaft .

Politician and expellee official

Seiboth joined the Sudeten German Party in 1934 and saw himself as a “national politician ”. On November 1, 1938, he joined the NSDAP ( membership number 6,600,850), within the SS Seiboth held the rank of Hauptsturmführer .

After the Second World War, Seiboth became active in organizations for displaced persons. From 1950 he was deputy state chairman of the Federation of Expelled Germans in Hesse and was one of the driving forces behind the merger of the "Association of Landsmannschaften (VdL)" and the "Federation of Expellees German (BvD)" to form the " Federation of Expellees ", which he joined Hesse was able to enforce in 1953 (at federal level only in 1957). In 1953 he was also chairman of the Sudeten German Landsmannschaft and was temporarily (1953–1955) chairman of the Witikobund .

In 1952 Seiboth joined the GB / BHE , for which he moved into the German Bundestag a year later . From March 15, 1955, he was deputy chairman of the GB / BHE parliamentary group there . In 1958, the party elected him federal chairman, after having been a member of the federal executive committee since 1954. From 1958 to 1966 Seiboth was a member of the Hessian state parliament . After the merger of the GB / BHE with the DP , he became chairman of the new All-German Party for one year with Herbert Schneider , and then chairman of the GDP Federal Committee. In 1967 Seiboth joined the SPD and was then State Secretary in the Hessian State Ministry for Agriculture and Forests from 1967 to 1974 .
