Frank Stanzl

Frank Stanzl (born December 22, 1970 in Heidelberg ) is a German organist , harpsichord player and composer .

Frank Stanzl studied organ with Peter Neumann and Margareta Hürholz , piano with Nina Tichman , composition with Johannes Fritsch at the University of Music in Cologne . He studied harpsichord with Gerald Hambitzer in Saarbrücken. He received further musical stimuli through contacts with Sergiu Celibidache , Jean Guillou , Klarenz Barlow , Thierry Mechler , György Ligeti and others

He has been awarded numerous international prizes and performs regularly at home and abroad.

Compositions

His early compositions are heavily influenced by Prokofiev , Stravinsky and Francis Poulenc . Apart from that there are a few in strict twelve-tone technique . Later works of new music were created inspired by Johannes Fritsch and his musical environment, as well as by Morton Feldman and György Ligeti. The philosophy of reduction and restriction to the essentials have shaped his music since the beginning of the millennium. His intellectual attitude to the instrument, the expansion and refinement of the playing technique led to a large number of unique organ compositions.
