Frank Weidner
Frank Weidner (* 1962 in Marl ) is a German nursing scientist .
Life
After doing civil service in 1981 at St. Gerburgis Hospital in Nottuln and graduating in 1986 as a nurse at Knappschaftskrankenhaus Recklinghausen , he gained professional experience as a nurse and in-house trainer in various facilities from 1986 to 1995. He passed the first state examination in health sciences (teaching post) in 1991 at the University of Osnabrück . For the doctorate in 1995 to Dr. phil. in Osnabrück he was awarded the PhD award of the University of Osnabrück in 1995. In 1995 he became deputy managing director and head of the institute for advanced training at the DBfK in Hanover (Lower Saxony). In 1997 he became professor of nursing science at the Catholic University of North Rhine-Westphalia and in 2000 founding director of the German Institute for Applied Nursing Research in Cologne. From 2006 to 2015 he was the founding dean of the nursing science faculty at PTH Vallendar , where he has been the professor of nursing science since 2006. From 2009 to 2015 he was the prorector of the PTHV. In 2009 he became chairman of the board of the German Institute for Applied Nursing Research eV The German Nursing Council awarded him the German Nursing Award in 2013.
His research focuses on the fundamentals and development of nursing and its science, nursing-relevant health care research, professionalization of nursing, health promotion, nursing prevention and counseling (including communal approaches), principles and approaches of rehabilitation in nursing.
