Frankendorf is part of the municipality of Buttenheim in the Bamberg district and is located in the Franconian Switzerland-Veldenstein Forest Nature Park .
geography
Frankendorf is about 4.5 kilometers northeast of Buttenheim. The closest places are Stackendorf and Ketschendorf , both of which also belong to Buttenheim. Frankendorf lies in a narrow valley that is bordered to the west and east by two ridges about 50 meters higher.
history
Frankendorf was for a long time an Obleidorf of Bamberg and the bishopric was subject to tax until 1802. The levy consisted of grain and other natural produce, which the monastery used as the economic basis for its own housekeeping. Later, the natural produce was partially or completely replaced by cash payments. In 1690 the place received a village and community ordinance from its overlord at the time.
On January 1, 1972, Frankendorf was incorporated into the Buttenheim market.

The place is connected to the places Stackendorf and Tiefenhöchstadt via the two-lane BA12, which runs through it from north to south. There is a connection to State Road 2260 about three kilometers south . The next motorway junction is at Buttenheim on the A73 .

The community life in Frankendorf is mainly shaped by the fire brigade association. For the 150th anniversary, a homepage will be set up to reflect this. It should represent the village in which the association is at home. In July 2017, the creation and construction of the homepage began.
