Frankfurter Anlagenring
The Anlagenring (also Cityring ) is a traffic route around the inner city of Frankfurt am Main .
description
The system ring consists of two concentric streets, in the form of an open ring ending south of the Main, which are separated from each other by the ramparts . Both are one-way streets - each for one of the two directions of travel. The ramparts were built in place of the Frankfurt city fortifications from the 17th century that were demolished between 1806 and 1812 . They surround the city center and have been protected by the Wall Service since 1827 . The layout ring bears numerous street names in its course. These two ring roads usually also differ in parallel sections.
Inner ring
The inner of the two ring roads follows the course of the city wall from the 14th century relatively uniformly. Here the traffic runs clockwise. This inner ring consists of the following streets:
- Untermainbrücke
- Neue Mainzer Straße (with Willy-Brandt-Platz and Taunustor )
- Opernplatz (the former Bockenheimer Tor)
- Elevated road
- Eschenheimer Tor (with the 500 year old Eschenheimer tower , a former city gate)
- Bleichstrasse
- Friedberger Tor
- Seilerstrasse
- Lange Straße (with the All Saints' Gate )
- Ignatz-Bubis-Bridge (formerly Obermainbrücke )
