Franz Bruno Hofmann

Franz Bruno Hofmann (born November 29, 1869 in Skalka , Braunau district , Bohemia , † June 6, 1926 in Marburg ) was an Austrian physiologist.

Life

Hofmann came from a weaving family, attended grammar school in Braunau and studied medicine at the German university in Prague . As a student he was a demonstrator and assistant to Ewald Hering , with whom he moved to the University of Leipzig in 1895 . Here he met his wife, geb. know from Suez. From 1898 he was a lecturer and from 1903 associate professor at the Leipzig Physiological Institute.

In 1905 he moved to the University of Innsbruck , in 1911 to the Karl Ferdinand University in Prague, in 1913 to the University of Königsberg and in 1916 to the University of Marburg , of which he was rector in 1917/18. In 1922 he was briefly at the University of Bonn and in 1923 he took over the management of the Berlin Institute. Hofmann had been a member of the Leopoldina since 1909 . Shortly before his death, on April 7, 1926, he was accepted as a full member of the Prussian Academy of Sciences .
