Franz Egon Cölestin Freiherr von Beroldingen (born October 11, 1740 in St. Gallen , † March 8, 1798 in Walshausen near Hildesheim ) was a theologian and speculative geologist.

He was the fifth child of Joseph Euseb Anton von Beroldingen , Herr zu Gündelhard, Hürrhausen and Beerenberg, and his wife Maria Anna Roll von Bernau .

He was cathedral capitular in Hildesheim , then in Osnabrück , archdeacon in Elze and finally obedientiar in Walshausen, where he a. a. Baron Heinrich Friedrich Karl vom und zum Stein visited.

In addition, he was self-taught in the mineralogical and geognostic subjects.

Joseph Anton Siegmund von Beroldingen (1738–1816), canon in Speyer and Hildesheim , friend of Goethe and St. Clement Maria Hofbauer , was his brother. The Württemberg diplomat Paul Joseph von Beroldingen (1754–1831) was one of his half-siblings.
