Paul Joseph Reichsgraf von Beroldingen (born May 19, 1754 in Gündelhardt , Thurgau , † July 3, 1831 in Stuttgart ) was a Württemberg diplomat and politician.

Life

Paul Joseph von Beroldingen was raised by his older brother, Canon Joseph Anton Siegmund von Beroldingen . He studied law at the University of Göttingen . After graduating, he entered the service of the prince-prince of Ellwangen. When this passed to Württemberg, Beroldingen was accepted into the civil service. In 1806 he became the royal Württemberg secret councilor and envoy to the Viennese court. In 1817 he became first chamberlain and chief chamberlain of Queen Katharina von Württemberg ( Katharina Pawlowna ), later also chief chamberlain of Queen Pauline von Württemberg . From 1815 to 1819 he was a member of the state assembly of the Kingdom of Württemberg .

After the death of childless Baron Franz Konrad von Ratzenried from the Humpiss family in 1813, his nephew Paul Joseph von Beroldingen inherited the Ratzenried Castle in Argenbühl near Ravensburg .

However, Count von Beroldingen rarely lived at the palace, as he was otherwise bound as a Privy Councilor and envoy to Vienna, as well as chamberlain and chief steward of the Queen of Württemberg. Only his descendants lived in Ratzenried from 1840 onwards.

Honors

  • In 1807, Count von Beroldingen received the Grand Cross of the Württemberg Civil Order of Merit
  • In 1818 he was honored with the commentary cross of the Order of the Württemberg Crown
