Franz Daxecker

Franz Daxecker (born May 24, 1945 in Munderfing ) is an Austrian ophthalmologist and science historian .

Life

Franz Daxecker was a typesetter from 1959 to 1965 , attended the Bundesaufbaugymnasium Horn from 1965 to 1970 , where he graduated with distinction, studied medicine in Innsbruck and received his doctorate there in 1975. In 1985 he received his habilitation and in 1993 his tit. ao. Appointed professor. From August 1, 1988, he was deputy director of the Clinic for Ophthalmology and Optometry at the Medical University of Innsbruck, and in 2006/2007 he was a supplier director.

His ophthalmological publications concern the determination of refraction (determination of glasses) with the laser, the calculation of intraocular lenses , the influence of ultraviolet radiation on the eye and the therapy of eye tumors .

Daxecker published extensively on the astronomer Christoph Scheiner , but also on Oswald von Wolkenstein , Christoph Grienberger , Johann Anton Scopoli , Felice Fontana , Pietro Andrea Mattioli , Ludwig Mauthner , Richard Seefelder , Dohrmann Kaspar Pischel , Kaspar Pischel , Friedrich von Herrenschwand , Burghard Breitner and Herbert Schober (1905-1975). Further writings concern representations of glasses from the Middle Ages, the history of the Medical University of Innsbruck and medicinal plants of the Middle Ages in ophthalmology. He also writes articles on lexicons.
