Franz Felix Betschon
Franz Felix Betschon (born November 29, 1941 in Airolo ; † August 27, 2015 in Heiden AR ) was a Swiss officer ( Colonel i. G. ), industry manager and author .
Life
Betschon comes from Baden AG on his father's side . He grew up with seven siblings; the mother had Czech ancestors. He studied mechanical engineering (engineer) at the ETH Zurich and was 1977 W. Hans Krause with the dissertation Theoretical and experimental contributions to the clarification of the static and dynamic stress of knitting machines for Dr. sc. techn. PhD . He also completed the International Senior Management Program at Harvard Business School (HBS) in Cambridge.
He then started at Brown, Boveri & Cie. , for which he also worked abroad. Later he worked for Adolph Saurer AG in Arbon and for the Wild Leitz Group in Heerbrugg. Until 1990 he was on the board of Leica AG . He then worked for Stamag AG in Saxony and Baden-Württemberg. In 1998 he became chairman of the management board of Starrfräsmaschinen AG . He was also an author on security issues and between 2010 and 2013 Vice President of the Giardino Group .
He was an officer in the Swiss Air Force and completed the general staff course at the GST S general staff school in Lucerne. Betschon worked, among other things, as Deputy Chief of Logistics for the Air and Flab Troops and in the Army Staff section of the Intelligence Service subgroup. From 1985 to 2005 he was a member of the International Institute for Strategic Studies (IISS) in London. From 2010 to 2013 he was vice-president of the Giardino group , which campaigns for the militia army ; but he resigned from this.
He was honorary president of the FDP Heiden. Betschon was married with three children and lived in Heiden.
