Franz Georg Friemel

Franz Georg Friemel (born May 4, 1930 in Waldenburg , Lower Silesia Province ) is a German pastoral theologian.

Life

Friemel grew up in the Westphalian town of Gronau after being expelled from Waldenburg in Silesia . He studied theology at the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and at the Philosophical-Theological Studies in Erfurt. He was with a thesis on the Regensburg Bishop Johann Michael Sailer and the problem of denomination doctorate .

He received 1955 at the seminary Neuzelle the priesthood . He initially worked as a chaplain in Finsterwalde , and later in Görlitz . From 1959 to 1964 he was a diocesan youth pastor. From 1964 to 1966 he completed postgraduate studies at the Philosophical-Theological Study in Erfurt. From 1966 to 1971 he was Subregens at the Bernhardinum seminary in Neuzelle and from 1972 to 1975 pastor of St. Hedwig's parish in Görlitz.

In 1975 he received an offer to study philosophy and theology in Erfurt , the then purely ecclesiastical forerunner of the theological faculty of today's Erfurt University; from 1978 he was professor for pastoral theology and religious education there and published under the pseudonym Andreas Althammer during this time. Friemel was dean of the theological faculty three times. In 1997 he retired .

On June 29, 2000, Friemel was named Dome of Honor of the Cathedral Chapter of St. James in Görlitz by Bishop Rudolf Müller .

Franz Georg Friemel has been a member of the Catholic student association KDStV Winfridia (Breslau) Münster in the CV since 1951 .
