Franz Holzweißig

Franz Holzweißig (born March 27, 1928 in Chemnitz ; † September 23, 2018 ) was a German engineer in the field of technical mechanics , university professor and author.

Life

After attending the Kreuzschule and the Kreuzchor in Dresden from 1938 to 1944 , he studied mechanical engineering at the Mittweida Engineering School from 1946 to 1949 . After graduating as an engineer, he continued his education in 1949 at the TH Dresden continued where 1953 he graduated as an engineer for heating technology acquired.

Until 1961, Holzweißig completed his university studies as an assistant , later as senior assistant to Heinz Neuber and Arthur Weigand , who were doing research in the field of technical mechanics at the TH Dresden. There he received his doctorate in engineering in 1959 .

From 1961 to 1963 he was a department head at the Nagema Industrial Institute . This was followed by his habilitation .

In 1961 he was appointed professor of perception for special problems in vibration technology, and then in 1964 to professor of technical mechanics. From 1991 to 1994 Holzweißig was Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the TU Dresden.

Together with Hans Dresig, he wrote the standard work on machine dynamics .

Franz Holzweißig lived in Dresden.
