politics

Kampichler was a councilor in Edlitz from 1980 and held the office of mayor from 1993 to 2002. He was also district chairman of the ÖAAB Neunkirchen from 1983 to 2002 and regional chairman of the Lower Austrian Family Association from 1985 to 1995. In 1987 he was elected President of the Representation of the Lower Austrian Families and between 1993 and 1997 he was President of the Austrian Family Federation.

Kampichler represented the ÖVP between July 2, 1985 and July 8, 1993 in the Federal Council and from July 9, 1993 to December 19, 2002 in the National Council, although his membership in parliament was interrupted several times for short periods. After his defeat in the mayoral election in 2002, Kampichler questioned his political function. A list of citizens, on which the entire municipal administration stood, had won an absolute majority and Kampichler had suffered a heavy defeat. After the Lower Austrian ÖAAB had agreed not to him, but to the Wiener Neustädter district party chairman Johann Rädler , Kampichler also decided not to run for second place on the regional constituency list. In addition, after 20 years he resigned from his position as ÖAAB district chairman.
