Franz Kratochwil

Franz Kratochwil (born July 21, 1948 in Vienna ; † August 5, 2019 ) was an Austrian actor and author .

Life

After training as a hairdresser, Franz Kratochwil wanted to become a journalist. For some time he was responsible for the stadium newspaper of VfB Stuttgart until he returned to his hometown and took acting lessons with Oskar Willner at the Volkstheater Vienna . Afterwards Kratochwil worked on various Austrian stages such as the grandstand , the Theater Forum Schwechat , the Austrian state stage or the touring theater Der Grüne Wagen . From 1989 to 2005 he was engaged at the Schleswig-Holstein State Theater in Schleswig, where he played, among other things, the prison guard Frosch in der Fledermaus by Johann Strauss and the figure of Mammon in Jedermann by Hugo von Hofmannsthal .

Freelance since 2005, Krachtowil has often given readings and wrote haikus . He lived in Schleswig.
