Franz Peter Künzel

Franz Peter Künzel (born March 31, 1925 in Königgrätz ) is a German translator of Czech and Slovak literature , editor and editor .

Life

After initially studying in the Czech Republic, he attended the German-language secondary school in Reichenberg . From 1943 to 1945 he did military service and was then a British prisoner of war . In 1959 he passed the state examination as a translator and interpreter of the Czech language in the field of humanities in Munich . From 1954 to 1964 he was the editor-in-chief of the publishing house and then worked as a freelance literary translator and interpreter of Czech and Slovak literature as well as cultural and political developments in the press, radio and television. From 1985 to 2014 he was editor-in-chief of the European cultural magazine Sudetenland .

Memberships exist or existed in writers' associations (Internationaler PEN, Künstlergilde e.V., Adalbert Stifter Association and Sudeten German Academy of Sciences and Arts) and literature juries ( Andreas Gryphius Prize , Georg Dehio Prize , Nikolaus Lenau Price and others).
