Franz Schlosser

Franz Schlosser (born November 8, 1872 in Schwaan , † after 1916) was a German officer and administrative officer in Cameroon .

Life

Schlosser was born in Schwaan in 1872 as the son of the local administrator Georg Wilhelm Heinrich Schlosser and his wife Hedig, b. Passow born. After attending high school, he entered the military career. In 1890 he became a cadet in the Foot Artillery Regiment General Feldzeugmeister (1st Brandenburg) no. 3 , in November of the same year for Ensign , 1891 to lieutenant and in 1899 to lieutenant promoted. On July 6, 1900 he was employed by the protection force for Cameroon and there on November 18, 1905, a surplus captain , on December 19, 1905, company commander .

In 1901, Schlosser took part in the expedition against Chief Simekoa under Captain von Schimmelpfennig, and in 1904 as a company commander in the suppression of the unrest in the Cross River area (basho). After commander Wilhelm Mueller returned to Soppo, he was entrusted with the overall management of the protection force in the region. Also in 1904 he became leader of the 4th company and district chief in Banjo, and in 1904/05 he was the leader of the 6th (expedition) company. In January 1905 he returned to the coast. In 1906 he was entrusted with the administration of the Sanga Ngoko district. In July 1907 he took over the management of the southern expedition, which subjugated the Makaa south of the Nyong .

After transferring to civil administration (1910), Schlosser was given the rank and title of government councilor . Most recently he was the district administrator of Lomië . During the First World War in Cameroon, he was the leader of the northern division, which was supposed to bind the British forces in the Garua and Marua area and prevent their access to the highlands of Ngaundere . In 1916, together with Governor Karl Ebermaier and most of the Schutztruppe, he moved to the neutral Spanish area of Rio Muni and was later interned in Pamplona.
