Franz Stauber

Franz Stauber (born June 27, 1928 in Hofkirchen im Traunkreis ; † October 16, 2018 in Linz ) was an Austrian educator . From 1982 to 1991 he was the first ecclesiastical layman director of Caritas in the Diocese of Linz and thus also the first ecclesiastical layman in the consistory of the Diocese of Linz.

Life

The trained tailor completed the episcopal teachers 'seminar , was diocesan leader of the young boys' group of the Linz diocese from 1953 to 1957 and then from 1957 to 1961 Federal Secretary of the Catholic Youth of Austria . He also studied education and psychology as a part-time job and received his doctorate in philosophy in 1970 .

During his activity as the director of the Catholic Educational Organization of the Diocese of Linz from 1961 to 1982 he accompanied study trips to Rome , developed educational seminars, was a lecturer himself and was at the head of the Christian Theater Ring. In 1982 he was appointed by Bishop Maximilian Aichern as the first layperson to head the Caritas of the Diocese of Linz and held this office until 1991. In this function he was also the first layman to be a member of the consistory of the Diocese of Linz.

His commitment to church media work began in 1961. Between 1970 and 1981 he was chairman of the church radio and television commission in Austria, then chairman of the catholic television commission in Austria. From 1971 to 1974 he was general secretary of the entire Austrian Catholic center for mass communication and then chairman until 1986.

In 1988 he began to work in the Pro Oriente Foundation , Linz section, which lasted until 2006 , where he was temporarily chairman.

At parish level, Stauber was chairman of the parish council in the Linz-St. Severin active.

Franz Stauber died on October 16, 2018 at the age of 91.
