Franz Tomaselli (born April 14, 1801 in Salzburg , † October 19, 1846 in Agram ) was an Austrian singer and actor of Italian origin.

Life

Tomaselli was a son of Giuseppe Tomaselli and his second wife Antonia Honikel; Carl , Ignaz and Katharina were his siblings. Like his siblings, he received his first artistic lessons from his father.

He then joined various theater companies. At one of these appearances he made the acquaintance of Joseph Schreyvogel , who immediately engaged him. In February 1822, Tomaselli was able to successfully debut at the court theater in Vienna . He stayed there until 1826. During this time Tomaselli found more and more pleasure in comic roles, so that in 1826 he was the successor to Karl von Zahlhas called Neubruck at the Leopoldstädter Theater as a comedian .

In 1838 Tomaselli went on an extensive tour to almost all of the larger provincial theaters in Austria . In the spring of 1842 Tomaselli returned to Vienna and was again under contract at the Leopoldstädter Theater.

From 1844 he went on another big tour, but could no longer build on his earlier successes. During this tour, Tomaselli died on October 19, 1846 in Agram, where he also found his final resting place.
