Franz Weber (actor)
Franz Weber (* 24. March 1888 in Haspe ; † 10. August 1962 in Berlin ) was a German actor .
Life
He made his debut on February 1, 1907 at the Deutsches Schauspielhaus in Hamburg . In 1908 he moved to the Volks-Schauspielhaus there, and also played at the Thalia Theater .
Appearances in various German cities followed. In 1926 he became a member of the ensemble at the State Theater in Berlin . From 1945 to 1950 he was engaged at the Deutsches Theater , then he worked at the Schlossparktheater .
After his first silent film appearances in 1920, Weber only became a popular supporting actor at the beginning of the sound film age. Mostly he embodied honorable gentlemen, often noblemen like the Prince von Ligne in the Ufa anniversary film Münchhausen . In 1944, in view of his many film appearances, he was put on the God-gifted list.
In the last years of his life, Weber was on stage at the Berlin Schillertheater in particular , and he also took part in some early television productions.
