Frascati Superiore

Frascati Superiore is an Italian white wine from the metropolitan city of Rome , Lazio region . The wines had had a "controlled designation of origin " ( Denominazione di origine controllata - DOC) since 1973 . In 2008 they were upgraded to a DOCG , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Cultivation

The following municipalities in the metropolitan city of Rome are authorized for the cultivation and vinification of the wines: Frascati , Grottaferrata , Monte Porzio Catone and in parts of the municipalities of Rome and Montecompatri .

generation

The wine must be made from at least 70% of the Malvasia Bianca di Candia and / or Malvasia del Lazio grape varieties . A maximum of 30% Bellone , Bombino Bianco , Greco Bianco , Trebbiano Toscano and / or Trebbiano Giallo may be added - individually or together. This may contain a maximum of 15% other white grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Lazio region.

In 2016, 13,097 hectoliters of this DOCG wine were produced from 170 hectares of vineyards.
