Frederik Magle

Frederik Reesen Magle (born April 17, 1977 in Stubbekøbing , Denmark ) is a Danish composer , concert organist and pianist .

Life

Frederik Magle studied composition and music theory with Leif Thybo and attended the Royal Danish Conservatory in Copenhagen , where he studied composition and organ. Frederik Magle is known for his compositions for the Danish royal family : The music for the baptism of Nikolai of Denmark in 1999, the baptism of Felix of Denmark in 2002 and a symphonic suite Cantabile , based on poems by Prince Henrik of Denmark . The first movement of Cantabile, Souffle le vent , premiered in 2004, the remaining two movements, Cortège & Danse Macabre and Carillon , in June 2009, both times by the DR Radiosymfoniorkestret .

Frederik Magle created the disposition and sound design for the organ in Jørlunde Church in 2009 and recorded a double album ( Like a Flame ) of free improvisations on the organ.
