Nikolai William Alexander Frederik, Prince of Denmark , Count of Monpezat (born August 28, 1999 in Copenhagen ) is a Danish model .

Life

Nikolai zu Denmark is the eldest son of Prince Joachim of Denmark and at the same time the eldest grandson of Queen Margrethe II. He is currently in seventh place in the Danish line of succession and is a member of the House of Oldenburg .

He was born in 1999 at Rigshospitalet in Copenhagen . At the time of his birth he was third in line to the Danish throne, behind his uncle Frederik zu Denmark and his father Joachim . He is the first of two sons born during Prince Joachim's marriage to Alexandra von Frederiksborg . On November 6, 1999, Nikolai was baptized at Fredensborg Palace . His godparents were u. a. his uncle Frederik and Prince Edward , youngest son of the British Queen Elizabeth II.

In 2005, his parents officially divorced and from then on they shared custody of him and his brother Prince Felix (* 2002). Nikolai's half-brother Prince Henrik (* 2009) and his half-sister Princess Athena (* 2012) emerged from the existing marriage of his father to the French Marie Cavallier .

On April 30, 2008 Nikolai received the title Count von Monpezat . The Danish royal family decided that both sons of Queen Margrethe II, as well as all of her descendants and their spouses, should from this point on bear the name affix that goes back to their husband .

Prince Nikolai's confirmation took place on May 8, 2013 in the church of Fredensborg Palace. The service was held by the former Bishop of Copenhagen Erik Norman Svendsen .

Prince Nikolai first visited the Krebs' Skole in Copenhagen from 2006. Since 2014 he has been a student at the Herlufsholm Skole . There he graduated in 2018. He was then accepted at the Hærens Sergeantskole in Varde , where he should have completed a two-year training as a reserve officer.

In 2018, Prince Nikolai made his debut as a model at London Fashion Week 2018 for Burberry , and in the same year he modeled for Dior in Tokyo . After the 2019 summer vacation, Nikolai started studying Business Administration and Service Management at Copenhagen Business School .
