Fredi Alder (born April 14, 1943 in St. Gallen ; resident in Urnäsch , Winterthur and Rorschach ) is a Swiss teacher and politician ( SP ). From 1995 to 1999 he was the National Councilor of the Canton of St. Gallen .

Life and professional activity

Alder is married with three daughters and lives in Rorschach. From 1960 to 1964, he trained as a primary school teacher at the Rorschach teacher training college, followed by training as a real-world teacher. From 1964 to 1967 Alder was a realteacher in Teufen in the canton of Appenzell Ausserrhoden .

1967-1973 study done at the University of Zurich in psychology , education and special education . 1970 to 1974 part-time teaching assignments at the teachers' seminar in Rorschach and Liestal ( cantons of Basel-Landschaft ) and at the home economics teacher in St. Gallen and later in Gossau . From 1974 to 1996 Alder was the main teacher in education, psychology and general didactics at the work and home economics teacher seminar, from 1996 to 2007 he was main teacher in psychology, education and curative education at the Rorschach teacher’s seminar and at the canton school at Burggraben in St. Gallen.

politics

Alder began his political career from 1980 to 1988 as a district school councilor, was from 1988 to 1995 a cantonal councilor (judicial commission) and from 1995 to 1999 a national councilor (member of the security commission).

He has been a district judge at the Rorschach District Court since 1975 and a member of the Presidium of the Socialist Lake Constance International since 2000 .
