Freimut Wössner (* 1945 in Austria) is a Berlin cartoonist .

life and work

Freimut Wössner grew up in Stuttgart . He attended the Wagenburg-Gymnasium and graduated from high school there in 1965. He then studied psychology for 8 semesters in Munich, Marburg and Saarbrücken. After that he took a drawing course at the Volkshochschule Schöneberg in the 1970s and began to work as a visual artist. Wössner has been a freelance caricaturist since 1980 . His drawings and photomontages appear in Germany ( Eulenspiegel , Psychologie Heute , Dr. med. Mabuse , Union of Education and Science , Zitty , Spiegel Online , tageszeitung ), Austria and Switzerland. Wössner also writes comic texts for radio and television. FW Bernstein called Wössner a "chronicler of our postmodern Biedermeier ".

Freimut Wössner has lived in Berlin since 1969. In 1999 Wössner reached 3rd place in the German Prize for Political Caricature competition , in 2005 1st prize in flashback (photo and caricature competition) and in 2007 he received the Berlin Nature Conservation Prize from the Berlin Nature Conservation Foundation .
