Fresnay-en-Retz ( Breton : Onnod-Raez ) is a town and commune Déléguée in the French commune of Villeneuve-en-Retz with 1,307 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Loire-Atlantique in the Region Pays de la Loire . The inhabitants are called Fresnaysia .
With effect from January 1, 2016, the municipalities of Bourgneuf-en-Retz and Fresnay-en-Retz were merged into a Commune nouvelle with the name Villeneuve-en-Retz. The municipality Fresnay-en-Retz belonged to the arrondissement Saint-Nazaire and was part of the canton Machecoul (until 2015: canton Bourgneuf-en-Retz ).
