Fridolin Summerer

Fridolin I. Summerer (born April 10, 1628 in Baden , † August 18, 1674 in Muri ) was a Swiss Benedictine monk . From 1667 until his death he was abbot of the Muri monastery in the free offices (in today's canton of Aargau ).

The son of Peter Summerer, councilor and builder of Baden, and Ursula Wanger made their profession in 1644 and was ordained priest in 1651 . From 1652 he worked as a teacher at the monastery school , from 1654 to 1661 as a novice master . In 1655 he was appointed secretary of the Swiss Benedictine Congregation , two years later a subprior. On behalf of the congregation, he took over the administration of the Pfäfers monastery in 1663 , which was on the verge of ruin due to mismanagement. On February 3, 1667, Summerer was elected abbot. He made several visitations for the congregation . In this role he ensured that reforms were implemented in the Kempten monastery . He arranged for the old resolutions of the chapter to be collected and combined in a protocol. Summerer is buried in the Leontius Chapel of the monastery church.
