Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwemann (politician)

Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwemann (also: Friedrich Wilhelm Schwemann , born May 17, 1817 in Hildesheim ; † 1897 ibid) was a German entrepreneur and local politician .

Life

Born in the early days of the Kingdom of Hanover , at the request of his parents, Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwemann completed an apprenticeship as a businessman with an uncle in Hanover and then worked for various companies outside of his hometown of Hildesheim, before taking over his father's company there, which turned out to be Königlich Hannoversche Eisenfactorei Schwemann had acquired a reputation during industrialization .

At a young age, Schwemann also turned to public tasks and was elected mayor in 1845 - at the age of 28 . As such, he took on various interests and offices before he was elected - honorary - Senator of the city and was sent several times as a deputy to represent the interests of Hildesheim in the Hanover State Assembly .

As he got older, Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwemann gradually gave up his public duties, before the successful entrepreneur was awarded the honor of being an honorary citizen of the city of Hildesheim on May 17, 1892 on his 75th birthday .

With Louise Glenewinkel († 1899, also married the master baker Daniel Schneider , who worked in Hildesheim ) Schwemann had their daughter Caroline , nicknamed Lina (1854–1934) from Hanover, who worked as a cook in Hildesheim. She married Ernst Palandt (1848-1918) from Dorstadt (Goslar district), the deaf and dumb teacher only in Hildesheim and from 1874 to 1879 in Stade . There Lina gave birth to her son on May 1, 1877, who later became lawyer Otto Palandt .

Schwemannstrasse

  • After the death of Friedrich-Wilhelm Schwemann, who died in his retirement home on the Zingel in 1897 , the Schwemannstrasse there was named after the businessman and senator.
