Friedrich Baudri

Peter Ludwig Friedrich Baudri (born April 20, 1808 in Elberfeld (today in Wuppertal ); † October 5 or 6, 1874 in Cologne ) was a German painter and member of the Reichstag .

Life

Baudri learned the upholstery trade in his father's business. In 1831 he began training as a painter. In 1836 he studied at the art academy in Munich , in 1842 training as a portrait painter at the Düsseldorf art academy . In 1848 he settled in Cologne as a portrait painter. He was secretary of the 1st German Catholic Convention and from 1851 to 1864 the editor of the organ for Christian art .

In 1854 he was appointed to the board of directors of the Diocesan Museum . From 1856 to 1871 he was a city councilor in Cologne. 1871 President of the 21st Katholikentag , from 1873 to 1874 member of the Prussian House of Representatives . In 1874 he was elected a member of the Reichstag for the constituency administrative district Aachen 3 (city of Aachen). In the Reichstag he belonged to the faction of the center . He was the brother of the Cologne auxiliary bishop Johann Anton Friedrich Baudri .
