Friedrich Beneke

Friedrich Beneke (born March 3, 1853 in Hanover , † June 24, 1901 in Marburg ) was a German high school teacher.

Life

Beneke attended the Philippinum grammar school in Marburg and the Kgl. State school Pforta until Michaelis 1871. He studied medicine at the University of Marburg , then philology. In 1872 he was in the Corps Hasso Nassovia recipiert . He moved to the University of Leipzig and was also active in the Corps Saxonia Leipzig in the same year . Finally he studied at the University of Strasbourg , where he also joined the Corps Rhenania Strasbourg in 1874 . On October 1, 1875, he joined the teaching staff of the Grand Ducal Protestant Mariengymnasium in Jever . After the exam pro facultate docendi and the probationary year, he stayed there for another year as a scientific assistant teacher. From Michaelis 1877 to Michaelis 1879 he then took a full teaching position at the Grand Ducal High School in Oldenburg . In July 1879 he was on the faculty of philosophy in Strasbourg Dr. phil. PhD. Called from Oldenburg as a full teacher at the high school in Bochum , he was promoted to senior teacher in 1882 and to high school professor in 1893 . On April 17, 1895 he was appointed director of the Kgl. Hammonense grammar school and ceremoniously introduced there on May 14th. He headed this institute until his stroke in November 1898. At Easter 1900 he retired at the age of 47. He is buried in Marburg.
