Friedrich Erhard Leopold von Röder (born January 24, 1768 in Rothsürben ; † December 7, 1834 there ) was a Prussian officer , most recently a general of the cavalry and from 1818 to 1819 president of the Silesian Society for Patriotic Culture .

origin

Röder's father Friedrich Wilhelm von Roeder (1719–1781), married to Leopoldine Ernestine von Schmeling , had served as major general and commander of the elite 1st Cuirassier regiment under Frederick the Great . He died as general inspector of the Lower Silesian cavalry, dragoons and hussar regiments and governor of Zechlin, Wittstock and Lindow .

Life

Roeder entered service as a cornet in the same regiment on April 15, 1781 and was promoted to major and inspection adjutant to the Prince of Hohenlohe in 1799 . He took part in the 1806 campaign under Hohenlohe, later from 1808 to 1811 he was a wing adjutant to King Friedrich Wilhelm III. In 1812 he took part in the Prussian Auxiliary Corps in Napoleon I's campaign against Russia and was then chief of the general staff under Lieutenant General Julius von Grawert . When he was replaced by Yorck , Röder, who got on badly with Yorck, had to leave the regiment.

On March 5, 1813, Röder was promoted to major general and was given command of the Brandenburg brigade with the I. Army Corps under Blücher , but soon went over as chief of the reserve cavalry to the II Army Corps, which was under the command of Lieutenant General Friedrich von Kleist , and stayed there until 1814. During Napoleon's 100 days he served in the 1st Army Corps under General Hans Graf von Zieten and distinguished himself in the battle of Waterloo .

After the end of the war, Röder was commander of the 11th Division in Breslau from 1815 to 1820 and finally received his last command on April 3, 1820, that of the V Army Corps in Poznan . After the turmoil, which after the Polish November uprising of 1830, the province of Poznan was not spared and u. a. had led to the departure of Prince Anton Radziwiłł as governor , Röder retired on March 26, 1832 and retired to his Rothsürben estate near Breslau, where he died in 1834 of a stroke.

He married Henriette Christiane Ehrengard Emilie von Bardeleben (born January 22, 1769, † December 7, 1844), a daughter of Major General Christoph Karl Friedrich von Bardeleben . The couple left behind a son Friedrich (born November 19, 1798; † August 2, 1858), who had been married to Blanka von Wildenbruch (1805-1887) since October 19, 1826, who inherited the Rothsürben estate. Blanka was the daughter of Louis Ferdinand Prince of Prussia (1772-1806) from an illegitimate relationship with the Magdeburg civil servant daughter Henriette Fromme (1783-1828). She was like her brother Louis in 1810 by King Friedrich Wilhelm III. was raised to the Prussian nobility .
