Friedrich Franz von Conring

Friedrich Franz von Conring (born January 18, 1873 in Berlin , † December 5, 1965 in Bonn ) was a German writer .

Life

Friedrich Franz von Conring was the son of the Prussian major general Enno von Conring (1829–1886) and his wife Angelica, née Störzel. He had two sisters Maria (* 1874) and Carmen (* 1875).

Conring served in Schleswig-Holstein Lancers Regiment. 15 of the Prussian army from 1893 until his adoption as a lieutenant in 1900. In the same year he married in Philadelphia Maude Bryce. Conring lived as a freelance writer with his wife first in Berlin and Hamburg, from 1908 to 1915 in Munich and then again in Berlin. In 1931 Conring became a member of the sub-association "Working Group of National Writers" of the Association of German Writers (SDS). After the National Socialists came to power, he was elected to the board of directors in March 1933 as part of the coordination of the “Protection Association of German Writers”.

In 1943, after his first wife died, Conring married his second wife, Marie Wollrath, in Berlin-Wilmersdorf.

After the Second World War, Conring lived in Bornheim near Bonn.

Friedrich Conrings' literary work mainly includes dramatic literature. The drama "Discipline" has also been translated into English and French and performed in London and Paris. In addition, he wrote epic poetry and also wrote biographies of Friedrich Wilhelm von Steuben and Gebhard Leberecht von Blücher . In 1926, Conring published a translation of Guy de Maupassant's Bel-Ami . In the Soviet occupation zone , the Blücher biography and the story Mit der Division Graf Bredow under Hindenburg were on the list of literature to be sorted out .
