Enno Wilhelm Ferdinand von Conring (born May 17, 1829 in Zachow , Pomerania Province ; † May 28, 1886 in Wiesbaden ) was a Prussian major general .

Life

origin

Enno was a son of the landowner Justus von Conring (1792–1880) and his wife Karoline, born von der Lühe (1801–1883). The Prussian Lieutenant General Gustav von Conring (1825–1898) was his older brother.

Military career

After attending the military training school in Schwerin joined Conring on 9 April 1848 as Portepeefähnrich in the Grenadier Guards Battalion of Mecklenburg-Schwerin troop contingent and took the following year during the suppression of the Baden revolution to the fighting in Wald Michelbach and Ladenburg part . By the beginning of April 1856 he was promoted to prime lieutenant and from October 1857 he graduated for three years from the Prussian War Academy in Berlin , which awarded him the qualification for the general staff. From mid-September 1861 to the end of March 1866, Conring worked as a captain and general staff officer and then returned to service with the appointment of company commander in the 2nd Infantry Regiment. In this capacity, he participated in 1866 in the Main Army on German war part. After the war, on September 22, 1867, he was appointed wing adjutant to the Grand Duke of Mecklenburg-Schwerin , and on October 10, 1868, he was retained in his position and promoted to major in the Association of the Prussian Army .

In this capacity, Conring Friedrich Franz II served at the beginning of the Franco-Prussian War during the siege of Metz until he was appointed commander of the 1st Battalion in the 6th Thuringian Infantry Regiment No. 95 on September 15, 1870 . During the siege of Paris and the Battle of Orléans , he led the regiment from October 27 to December 21, 1870. After the peace treaty on June 24, 1871 , Conring was awarded both classes of the Iron Cross and the Mecklenburg Military Merit Cross as commander of the II Battalion transferred to the Queen Elisabeth Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 3 . On June 8, 1876, he was given command of the Fusilier Battalion and rose to colonel by the end of March 1876 . This was followed on May 18, 1876 by his appointment as commander of the 1st Hessian Infantry Regiment No. 81 in Frankfurt am Main . In this position he was awarded the Red Eagle Order III on the occasion of the festival in January 1878 . Class with ribbon and his regiment chief Grand Duke Ludwig IV honored him by awarding him the Knight's Cross 1st Class of the Order of Ludwig and the Commander II Class of his Order of Merit .

After the autumn exercises in 1880, Conring fell ill with a nervous disorder .
