Friedrich Gurschler

Friedrich Gurschler (born February 8, 1923 in Schnals , South Tyrol , Italy ; † January 18, 2020 in Meran , South Tyrol, Italy) was a freelance artist . He lived and worked in Töll / Partschins .

After serving in the war in 1944/45, Gurschler worked for three years as a farmhand in Schnalstal. Then he attended the art school Ortisei in Val Gardena with the sculptor Vigil Pesvosta da Banch . Four years later he completed this training and went to Nuremberg , where he studied sculpture at the Academy of Fine Arts . During this time Gurschler also attended lectures on architecture and was interested in studies of animal anatomy . He graduated as an academic sculptor in 1958. After completing his studies, he returned to South Tyrol to live and work there.

The sculptures , paintings and woodcuts of Gurschler often depict scenes from the sacral area. Other themes to which he devoted himself, animals are sculptures and act -Work.
