Friedrich Hempelmann

Friedrich Hempelmann (born January 26, 1878 in Halle an der Saale , † August 6, 1954 in Lübeck ) was a German zoologist and professor at the University of Leipzig .

Hempelmann studied natural sciences in Leipzig, Halle and Munich. The doctorate to Dr. phil. in zoology took place in 1906 at the University of Leipzig, 1911 followed the habilitation in zoology. From 1911 to 1917 he was a private lecturer, from 1917 to 1945 npl. Prof. for Zoology and Comparative Anatomy. In 1933 he signed the confession of professors at German universities and colleges about Adolf Hitler . In 1945 the US Army, withdrawing from Leipzig, evacuated him to Weilburg / Lahn.

His achievement lay in knowledge of bristle worms and the genealogical derivation of the arthropods .
