Friedrich Kübler

Friedrich Kübler (born October 19, 1932 in Reutlingen ; † October 22, 2013 in Königstein im Taunus ) was a German lawyer and professor at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . The main areas of his research and teaching were corporate and capital market law as well as media law .

Life

From 1952 to 1956, Friedrich Kübler studied law at the universities of Tübingen , Lausanne , Reading / Berkshire and Bonn . Since 1952 he was a member of the AV Virtembergia Tübingen student association. He completed his legal preparatory service (1957–60) in Stuttgart. In 1959 the doctorate to Dr. iur. at the University of Tübingen. From 1960 to 1962 he was a research assistant there. He then spent a year at the Institut de Droit Comparé at the University of Paris . He received a DFG postdoctoral fellowship from 1963 to 1965 and spent a six-month research stay in Rome in 1964. In 1966 he completed his habilitation and was offered a professorship in business law at the University of Giessen . From 1968 to 1969 he was Ezra Ripley Thayer Teaching Fellow at Harvard Law School . From 1970 to 1976 he taught at the University of Konstanz .

From 1976 until his retirement in 1998 he held a chair at the University of Frankfurt ; from 1978 to 1998 he was director of the local institute for banking law. From 1985 to 2011 he was Visiting Professor at the University of Pennsylvania Law School in Philadelphia, USA. Thanks to a concession from his department, he was “probably the only German full professor who could also be a full professor in the USA. He continued to teach at the 'U Penn' after his retirement in Germany. ”In addition, after his release, he became of counsel at the Clifford Chance law firm in Frankfurt. Kübler held numerous functions in science and society. Heinz-Dieter Assmann , Georgios Gounalakis and Rainer Walz are among his students.

Friedrich Kübler died in the Falkenstein district of Königstein im Taunus.
