Friedrich Karl Azzola
Friedrich Karl Azzola (born December 4, 1931 in Cireşa , Ferdinand , Romania ; † December 6, 2014 ) was a German chemist and historian .
Life
Azzola came from a Transylvanian Saxon family and was born in 1931 in the Banat . His parents ran a timber industry. After fleeing in September 1944, the family came to Hesse. He attended the secondary school in Marburg , from which he graduated with the secondary school leaving certificate, and then completed an apprenticeship in a woodworking company. In October 1954, he passed the external Abitur in Frankfurt and began studying chemistry at the University of Giessen . At the Technical University of Darmstadt , he was in 1965 to the doctor doctorate . He initially worked in the private sector for a few years. From 1970 he taught chemistry and materials science for prospective engineers at the State Engineering School for Mechanical Engineering in Rüsselsheim. After founding the Wiesbaden University of Applied Sciences , he was appointed professor. There he taught until his retirement in 1997, including in Geisenheim .
From the 1950s onwards, he devoted himself to scientific research into Christian and secular iconography, as well as historical professional and craft symbols. He wrote more than 350 publications in historical and regional journals.
