Friedrich Ludwig (Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck)
Friedrich Ludwig of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck (born April 6, 1653 in Beck ; † March 7, 1728 in Königsberg ) had been Duke of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck and Field Marshal since 1719 . He was one of the first bearers of the Black Eagle Order and Governor of Prussia .

He was the son of Duke August Philipp von Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Beck and his third wife Marie Sibylla von Nassau-Saarbrücken , daughter of Count Wilhelm Ludwig von Nassau-Saarbrücken .
Life
On August 22, 1676 he became a Brandenburg colonel. October 14, 1686 he was promoted to major general. In 1692 he became general of the infantry, in 1697 general of the cavalry and on March 26, 1713 general field marshal. From 1698 he was governor of Minden . On January 17, 1701 he was awarded the Order of the Black Eagle and shortly thereafter appointed governor of Prussia and governor of Königsberg . In 1721 he handed his regiment over to his successor and son Friedrich Wilhelm.
He was with his regiment in the War of the Spanish Succession in Holland. He fought in 1708 in the Battle of Oudenaarde and in 1709 in the Battle of Malplaquet . He and his unit were involved in the sieges of Lille (1708) (also: Rijsel ), Mons (1709) and Tournai (also: Donick ).

On January 1, 1685, he married Luise Charlotte of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg (April 13, 1658 - May 2, 1740), the daughter of Duke Ernst Günther of Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Augustenburg .
