Friedrich Nitzsch
Friedrich Nitzsch (also: Nitzsche , born March 11, 1641 in Zitzschewig ; † August 25, 1702 in Gießen ) was a German mathematician and legal scholar .
Life
Born as the son of Georg Nitzsch, who fled Bohemia because of his faith, he completed his training in Dresden and began studying theology at the University of Jena in 1659 . In 1663 he moved to the University of Leipzig , where he switched from studying theology to studying law. After he had acquired the academic degree of a Magister in 1664 , he translated the years 1665–1670 of the Journal des sçavans (Diurnale Gallicum) into Latin and did this in Leipzig and Frankfurt a. M. published as Ephemerides eruditorum .
On May 4, 1668, he received at the University of Giessen , the professor of mathematics, was promoted on August 8, 1670 for licentiate and doctorate there in 1671 to the doctor of the rights. In the same year he was given a position as in-house counsel in Giessen, becoming an associate professor on May 11, 1674 and a full professor of law on November 27. In 1684 he was given the position of councilor at the highest court of appeal of the two Hessian regional teams and from 1702 onwards he became procurator of the academy in Giessen. From his marriage he left two learned sons. One became a doctor of medicine and the other (Moritz Nitzsch) doctor of law.
The lawyer Gregor Nitzsch was his younger brother.
